Springfield College Hosts 2016 Greene Memorial Lecture in Physical Therapy

The Springfield College Department of Physical Therapy hosted the 20th annual Greene Memorial Lecture featuring Dianne V. Jewell, PT, DPT, PhD, FAACVPR, on Thursday, April 7, in the Fuller Arts Center. Jewell presented, “Leadership in Service to Others – Giving Voice Through Scholarship.”
Jewell is the founder and chief executive officer of The Rehab Intel Network, and has 27 years of experience as a physical therapist practicing in acute hospital, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient, and community health settings in Virginia. Her roles have included clinical team leader, clinical education coordinator, and director of quality management. Jewell also held an appointment for 11 years as assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Virginia Commonwealth University and currently serves in adjunct roles with the departments of physical therapy at Arcadia University and Mary Baldwin College.
With a doctoral degree in health services research and organization, her primary scholarly interests are physical therapy practice variation and outcomes of physical therapy patient management. She has published several peer-reviewed articles and is the author of Guide to Evidence-based Physical Therapist Practice.
Jewell currently serves as vice chair on the board of directors of Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Centers in Virginia. She also represents the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) on the Measures Advisory Committee (American Medical Association – Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement) and the National Physical Activity Plan Alliance board of directors. Previously, she has served on the boards of directors of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. She also served two terms as President of the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Section of the APTA.
The Greene Memorial Lecture was initiated by Edwin Greene, a member of the Springfield College Class of 1935, in memory of his wife, Jean Greene. It is the premiere scholarly event of the Springfield College Department of Physical Therapy.
