Members of the Springfield College Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program recently placed third in the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education’s (IACBE) fourth annual student case-study competition focused on business ethics hosted in Baltimore, Md.  The third place finish marked the very first time a College representing the Northeast has placed in the top three in this National competition.

Springfield College business management faculty member Kathleen Zilch led the team of four students, Justin Spencer-Linzie, James Hennin, Jennifer Habeeb, and Garrett Ambrosino, to the case-study competition. The competition, which consists of four rounds, provides students an opportunity to showcase their abilities to analyze a case, to identify and discuss recommendations for ethical action, and to think on their feet. The competition requires students to work as members of a team, collect and analyze data, and effectively present case information and answer questions in a clear, concise, and professional manner.

In their case presentations, each team must identify and explain the relevant background information of the case, which may include relevant legal, financial, economic, marketing, and management issues, and present the ethical issue that is central to the case. After presenting the case information, the teams must make recommendations for action that are solidly grounded in ethical theory.
