Springfield College Hosts Athletic Administration Leadership Series for Spring 2020

The Springfield College Athletic Administration Graduate Program will host its annual leadership series for the spring semester featuring opportunities for students within the National Junior College Athletic Association on Wednesday, March 4, at 7 p.m., in the Cleveland E. and Phyllis B. Dodge Room located in the Flynn Campus Union. The event is free and open to the public.

Launched in the spring of 2011, the Athletic Administration Leadership Series is held each semester and alternates a focus between high school and intercollegiate athletics.

 

The Springfield College Athletic Administration Graduate Program hosted its annual leadership series for the spring semester featuring opportunities for students within the National Junior College Athletic Association on Wednesday, in the Cleveland E. and Phyllis B. Dodge Room located in the Flynn Campus Union. 

National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Chief Executive Office and President Christopher J. Parker was the keynote speaker. Parker brought his experience to the campus and highlighted current trends in the organization and career paths in athletics at this higher education level.

Parker is responsible for all oversight of the country’s second-largest athletic association. He is charged with leading all aspects of the association and its 512 member colleges, while enhancing the opportunities for student-athletes and member institutions. His daily duties include providing leadership in membership growth, financial stability, and organizational growth.

  • Career opportunities in junior college athletics
  • Unique recruiting challenges in the NCAA
  • Differences between junior college and community college athletic programs
  • The emergence of eSports at the junior college level
