Hours & Access
The Learning Commons is currently closed to all visitors. The 24-Hour Study Space on the first floor will remain available. You must have your Springfield College ID card to enter this area of the building.
Library Services staff are working remotely, so there is no access to physical items in our collection. If you have borrowed library materials, such as print books or DVDs, you do not need to return them at this time. Due dates have been extended through June 1, 2020 and overdue fees will not be billed.
We provide access to a wide variety of online resources, including full-text articles, ebooks, and streaming video. Start with Quick Search to explore library resources, or use a specific database from the Full Database List.
Having trouble accessing our resources off campus? Check our Frequently Asked Questions for assistance with remote access, contact the library chat, or email us at email@example.com with your question or issue.
Getting Research Help
Working on a paper or project? Get started with a Research Guide in your subject area! Not sure where to begin? Research Companion and the Library Services YouTube channel offer helpful videos and tutorials.
Reference librarians are available 7 days a week to provide assistance. Find your subject specialist and request a virtual appointment! We can meet on Zoom or use another communication method of your choice.
Our Interlibrary Loan service is still active at this time, but we cannot lend or borrow physical items (e.g. print books). Any physical items currently on loan to you have been automatically renewed.
You can continue to submit Interlibrary Loan requests for electronic materials, such as journal articles and ebook chapters, which will be delivered to your ILL account. Please contact our Interlibrary Loan staff with any questions.
Physical course reserves are not available at this time. Students should contact their faculty about access to required texts.
Resources for Faculty
Library Services staff are here to support you as you transition to remote teaching. Please visit our guide to Putting Library Resources Online for step-by-step guidelines. You can also find helpful resources in PrideNet, including details on Brightspace Continuity and Online Pedagogy.
Reference librarians are available to provide remote library instruction and information literacy sessions. We can Zoom with your class, record video, create research guides, and more. Please use our Library Instruction Request Form to schedule a class session, or contact your Liaison Librarian to customize an instruction session for your students.
Access to the College Archives
The reading room in the Archives and Special Collections will be closed to researchers for the remainder of the semester. The College Archivist, Jeffrey Monseau, is available to help students and faculty with research and resources. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org directly with any questions.
There are over 30,000 items in the Springfield College Digital Collections, including digitized photographs, documents, hand-written text and correspondence, yearbooks, student newspapers, and audio and video files from our extensive collections.
We will continue to update this page throughout the semester. You can also keep up with Library Services by following us on Facebook or Instagram. Stay updated on Springfield College’s response on the Coronavirus Updates page.
