The Delight Champagne Scholarship Fund

Dr. Champagne was active in numerous professional organizations and she on the NASPA Journal Editorial Board and as a judge in the National Case Study Competition.  In the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Region I, she served as Region I advisory board member, faculty liaison, and regional conference planning committee member. She delivered more than 25 presentations at regional and national NASPA conferences. Other contributions to the profession include leadership roles held with the American College Personnel Association (ACPA). She was a recipient of the prestigious ACPA Annuit Coeptis Award for excellence in the field of student affairs.

Dr. Champagne’s research and professional focus were on career and adult transition, young adult development related to sports, and current professional issues in student affairs. She has authored or co-authored Decisions Matter: Using a Decision-Making Framework with Contemporary Case StudiesToward Administrative Reawakening: Creating and Maintaining Safe College; and An Athlete’s Guide to Career Planning: Keys to Success from the Playing Field to Professional Life, among others.  Her articles have been published in the NASPA Journal, the Academic Athletic Journal, the Journal of College Student Development, the Journal of Counseling and Development, and the Adult Education Quarterly.

Delight Champagne, PhD, served students at Springfield College as a tenured professor of psychology and the director of the Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education Program at Springfield College for almost 30 years. Her holistic and Humanics approach to teaching and her commitment to the mentorship and encouragement of young student affairs professionals have defined her legacy and career. Launched in 2018, the Dr. Delight E. Champagne Scholarship Fund will support graduate students accepted in the Student Affairs Administration Program through selection of one or more recipients via an application process. The Scholarship may be used to recruit new students to the program or to students in their second year of the program. Dr. Champagne's legacy of excellence in the field will continue through this Scholarship in her name.
