Springfield College Athletics Goes International

Field Hockey

The Springfield College Field Hockey team is headed to Spain May 20-28, 2019. The team will participate in two international matches, tour Barcelona and Madrid, and take a guided tour of the Barcelona Olympic Complex and La Sagrada Familia. While staying true to the Humanics philosophy, the team also will participate in community service efforts.

“I am incredibly grateful for the support that many of our alumni, friends, and family provided to help make our trip to Spain a reality. They gave our student-athletes a once-in-a-lifetime experience and the opportunity to make an impact internationally through community service. Springfield College Field Hockey alumni are a truly special group, and the tradition of international travel continued for our program thanks to the support and dedication they continue to offer. We really cannot thank the Department of Athletics members and our alumni, family, and friends enough!”

– Melissa Sharpe ’02, G’04, head coach

Women’s Lacrosse

The Springfield College Women’s Lacrosse team is excited to continue fundraising for a trip to Italy in January 2020. Traveling to Montecatini and Rome, the team will have the opportunity to compete against the Italian national team; participate in skills training sessions; engage in community service projects; take walking tours of Florence, Pisa, and Rome; go on a bike tour of Lucca; and even participate in a pasta-making lesson.

“The opportunity for Springfield College Women’s Lacrosse to travel internationally to Italy in 2020 is beyond exciting for the program. We pride ourselves on providing a balanced experience for women’s lacrosse student-athletes in their four years at Springfield College. Thank you to all who have supported, or plan to support, this trip and allow our team the opportunity to travel abroad.”

– Kristen Mullady ’00, head coach

Men’s Basketball

The Springfield College men’s basketball team and its coaches look forward to continuing fundraising, as the team plans to travel to Costa Rica in August 2019.

“We are putting together plans to head to Costa Rica, and the commitment and enthusiasm from our alumni, family, and friends will aid us in providing our student-athletes with this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Our longstanding tradition of spreading the game of basketball worldwide is unmatched. With that said, I believe the current makeup of our roster, with a number of upperclassmen, makes for the perfect time to take a trip overseas.” - Charlie Brock ’76, G’80, head coach
