NOTE: Students admitted to the Student Affairs Administration (SAA) master's program receive priority consideration.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Department of Education Graduate Fellow (GF) assists the faculty with undergraduate teaching, research initiatives, and graduate program recruitment and development.

  • The GF may be assigned evaluation/peer-reviewing responsibilities in supporting undergraduate students with writing assignments. 
  • The GF may serve as a “first reader” for undergraduate education courses.
  • The GF may be assigned teaching responsibilities related to undergraduate courses.
  • The GF may coordinate and facilitate community-building events and co-curricular programs for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • The GF may assist with alumni outreach and communication.
  • The GF may assist faculty members with locating and collecting research articles and the data collection and organization process.
  • The GF offers a student perspective on marketing strategies, including internal and external communication, social media, and the college website.
  • The GF may assist with the annual department and program-specific assessment initiatives.
  • The GF may assist in processing licensure files.
  • The GF may communicate with prospective graduate students on behalf of program directors.
  • The GF may represent the education department at recruitment and other admissions events.
  • The GF may be asked to assist with the planning, organizing, and implementing department-sponsored events.
  • The GF is to schedule and maintain regular office hours.

The GF is to become van certified.

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstration of ability to take the initiative and work independently
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Working knowledge and/or willingness to develop working knowledge of the program, departmental, college, and professional association requirements and guidelines.
  • Organizational and administrative skills and experience

Position Requirements:

The Fellow must be a full-time graduate student at Springfield College in good standing and have a field of study related to the fellowship. Preference is given to students from the SAA master's program. Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain driver safety certification.
